Birthday Theme

So yeah, tomorrow I will be turning the big 3-0. Not very excited about it but what am I gonna do? Maybe I should give myself a nice camera for my birthday so I can take nicer pictures :) We'll see.. Anyway, here are my birthday design colors:

Hooker Red French Manicure For A Party In NYC Tonight! (Julie)

I just felt it was appropriate- it's been a while since I glammed up. Today, in the mail, came my order from fabuloustreet.com for NFU oh GS14 which is almost always sold out! I had already done my nails a nice candy-apple hooker red (Ulta professional - I call it my hooker red because I can never remember the name of it!) for tonight's events, and I *really* wanted to use the new Nfu Oh, so I got a little innovative, and broke out my french mani strips and voila! Hooker red/sparkly french manicure was born! And NOW i'm ready to go out :)

Deborah Lippmann - Today Was A Fairytale and Hit Me With Your Best Shot

Hello snow day!! This is probably one of the worst snowstorms of the year here - NY is swallowed by snow. I've just about had enough of the snow and the winter, and I hope we have an early spring. Look at this chaos! I do love fresh snowfall, but in a few days everything is brown and mucky and disgusting.

So Liam took me to the mall this evening, we were getting stir crazy from being in the house so much due to crappy weather. I got two lovely new additions today - I am not able to swatch them until I return from vacation Sunday, but I did take some great photos of them so you can see how beautiful these really are. Today was a fairytale is the most amazing glittery color - silver and blue are just so cohesive and I can't wait to try this with a powder blue base. Hit me with your best shot is a slate gray/blue and I want to try this in a reverse french. Both are so lovely and a treat to look at until I get to try them :)

I also gave the sparkly french mani yet another go, because it is definitely my favorite experimental mani! This is my best yet, because I had the right swatches that all went together much better.

I have a few swatches to share this evening, while The Bachelor begs for my attention but cannot hold it. Speaking of the bachelor...this dude sucks. He's icky. And I hate how everything is so damn fake and staged. That being said, I still DVR it, and I will still keep it on in the background each week...and I just might "awww" a few times. Might call some girls bitches. Rightfully so.

Moving on!

I mentioned a few posts ago that I received China Glaze Innocence, and Zoya Sparkle Gloss top coat...so voila, here the two are worn together in all their glory. Obviously, it's not right for my skin tone but I'll show it off anyway cus it's perty!

Also I know I am constantly apologizing for my bad photos and bad lighting - looking at everyone else's beautiful blog photos make it look so easy. How are you all doing it?

Moving on from my sickly pale fingers, I swatched one of my favorites by Color Club that I've had since the summer and I use liberally and often! It's an extra sparkly swatch, mainly orange but when the light hits it, it shimmers pink. It's super original. The swatch is called Wild And Willing. Now if that's not the most suggestive swatch name I've heard ;)

And here is a little experiment I did. Basing this on what I learned in an older post I thought i'd try it with a darker color and make it a little edgier. I don't know if this is a complete fail or if it looks good yet though. I certainly love all the sparkles, that goes without saying, but it could very well be ugly. What do you think?

I used 5 different bottles in this concoction - I will update later with the brands and swatch names. The photo came out off-colored and a bit faded because I'm working with artificial light.
